Abstract
@EN To evaluate the significance of cockroach antigen as a causative inhalant allergen in korean atopic children, bronchial provocation test with German cockroach extract 9CR-BPT) was performed 16 cockroach sensitive(positive skin reaction to
cockroach
antigen) asthmatic children(5-13 years of age). The relative concentration of serum specific IgE to crude German cockroach antigen was measured by FAST, and those of specific IgE to major German cockroach allergens, Bla g I and Bla g II, were
measured
by two-side ELISA with monoclonal antibodies to Bla g I and Bla g II in Avidin-Biotin ELISA system.
@ES The results were as follows ;
@EN 1. The positive rate of specific IgE to crude German cockroach extract was 18.7% by FAST, while those of specific IgE to Bla g I and II were 58.3% and 58.3%, respectively.
2. Early asthmatic response was noted following the antigen inhalation in 6 of the 16(37.5%) subjects tested. Maximal fall of PEFR during early asthmatic response was 23-46.5% of baseline, and the PD20 of 6 subjects were variable from 3.0 AU to
425
AU.
3. The mean age and skin reaction to cockroach antigen were not different between CR-BPT positive and negative subjects, but the total serum IgE and specific IgE to major German cockroach antigens were significantly higher in CR0BPT positive
subjects.
4. Among 6 subjects showing early asthmatic response, 4 children experienced questinable late asthmatic response, PEFR decreasing to 10~14$ of baseline, during 3-10 hours following antigen inhalation.
In conclusion, cockroach induces antigen specific IgE-mediated bronchial asthma, and cockroach is also a causative antigen in Korean atopic asthmatic children.
